Dentistry has been recognized as a field focusing on clinical practice rather than public health practice. However with the global increase of chronic disease, as diabetes and obesity dental conditions are accordingly aggravated. There is an immense gap of dentists’ knowledge in areas of epidemiological and health policy of oral health. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to: • Analyzed the concepts and significance of dental public health. • Discuss, apply, and interpret basic epidemiologic concepts and measures of disease ?occurrence in populations: incidence, prevalence, odds ratio and relative risk. • Describe the different types of epidemiological study designs. • Discuss strengths and limitations of different types of epidemiological studies designs. Learn the deeper insights of Oral health and prevention of oral disease through reducing the oral risk factors and the integration of oral health into national and community health programs based on oral health– general health–quality of life inter- relationships.
