Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition Therapy

Workshop

  • Certified 13 CME Hours (HAAD)
  • (HAAD CME Hours are recognized by MOH and DHA)

The metabolic stress of critical illness, coupled with associated clinical complications, can lead to malnutrition. It has been shown that early enteral nutrition may favorably impact patient outcomes. Nutrition support is now seen as a proactive therapy - helping to reduce disease severity, diminish complications, decrease length of stay in the ICU, and favorably impact patient outcomes. Caregivers involved in providing nutrition therapy to this population - physicians, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, respiratory and physical therapists –should be up to date with the latest guidelines to be able to provide the best care for their critically-ill patients. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to: - Define when to choose artificial nutrition and which type and its implication on nutritional status. - Conduct adequate nutritional assessment according to the most recent guidelines. - Proficiently plan and calculate all nutritional requirements/restrictions for the critically ill. - Identify and administer the optimal formula and method for each patient and manage its complications. Demonstrate the deeper insights of the Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition Therapy and know the how-to’s in using this techniques for the critically ill patients. Target Participants: Clinical Dietetics, Nutritionists, Internal Medicine, Nurses, Registered Nurses and Health Educators
